Question
My grandma gave me some fish today and she said that they are zebrafish but when I looked them up on the comp. they looked nothing like zebrafish. I have 6 fish. One is big, about 2.5 inches(he is shy, he hides behind some of the decorations in the tank but the rest aren't shy) two of them are about two inches, another two are about an inch and the last fish is about half an inch. They all looked the same. They are gray with dark gray almost black stripes. The stripes are pretty close together like well zebras stripes are but I don't think they are zebrafish. So if you can help me out that would be great and oh yea even thought the fish are all different sizes they get along well and don't fight. I hope this is enough information for you. Thank you.:)

Answer
Hi Drew,
Do the fish look like a species of danios? Look here-

Zebra danios-

Giant Danios-

If it turns out to be none of these fish then perhaps maybe it is a minnow species?

Could you send a pic? I bet I could identify it very easily.

Hope this helps!
Karen~
