Gourami chasing moelli

Question
I have a pair of gourami's and 1 black moelli. They have been living together for the past 4 months. I have seen the gourami's chase each other before, but for the past 2 days, one of gourami's is chasing the single moelli allt he time. Could you suggest why is the gourami behaving like this? and what should i do?

Answer
Hi!
Gouramis do often have the tendency to be territorial. Especially if you have males. If the tank is too small that might be part of the problem as well. Plants and other retreats are good for helping the tank's inhabitants have some peace.

Otherwise, you may have to try just keeping 1 gourami in the tank. Or try removing the bullying gourami into another tank for several days and then return him back. It may be in "spawning mode" and want to defend a territory from other fish especially the gourami.

If all else fails, you could always use a tank divider also.

Best of luck and I hope this helps!
