Question
QUESTION: I have 9 Mickey mouse platy fry in a 5 gallon tank with plants and a air pump.I'm feeding them crushed food.Is there anything else I should do? they're 4 days old.

ANSWER: Hi Jake

You will also need a small filter for the 5 gallon. Make sure the filter intake is protected so it won't suck up the fry.

You can get fry food at your local fish store. It comes in both powdered and liquid form. Baby brine shrimp is also good.

Keep the temperature 75-78 and do your regular water change as you would in your main tank. They should be fully grown in 3-4 months.

Hope this helps, good luck!

QUESTION: It went good now I have one in a net breeder and it won't release the fry what to do? It's been a week and a half.

Answer
Hi Jake

You shouldn't put the females in the net breeder. Net breeders are only for putting the fry in after she has given birth. Putting the pregnant female in the net breeder will stress her out and she will abort the birth.

Release her back into the main tank. Once things are back to normal and she feels safe again, she will give birth.

Hope this helps, good luck!
