Betta Spitting Out Bloodworms

Question
Hi Jaymie, it's me again. You told me before that Bettas spit out food when they are first tried. Well, this has been my betta's 3rd or 4th time eating bloodworms, and he's still spitting them out five minutes later. I tried to give him a second one, and he ignores it. Could it be that he just eats very little?

Answer
Mandy,

I am at a loss lol. Betta's love blood worms too. Are you giving him the freeze dried or frozen blood worms?  Is it truly 5 minutes time before he spits it out? Fast him for 2 days and then try feeding him one and see what happens. Let me know if that helps. Their stomach is as big as his eye so they really shouldn't eat much. They will however eat every time you feed them. As long as the water quality is good and he is showing no signs of illness then it is safe to say he isn't sick. Betta's can be picky but as soon as they learn that you are the feeder he will then start eating his food. That is why I say fast him first, that might help.
