Question
Hi Rene I have asked questions on here for yrs on and off.  I have an Oscar (6 yrs old)in great health. The water conditions are fine.  This morning the top door on the tank fell into the tank (plastic) well it seems the Oscar was scrapped up on the side of his body, skin can be seen. Its nasty. Ill send a pic if needed.  He is fine swimming and eating though.   My question Is their anything to use for healing and to prevent disease? thank you so much

Answer
Hi Fran,

I had an african cichlid who got stuck between the heater and tank and burned himself in a 3" line, about 1" across.

It took weeks to heal and he was scarred til the day he died...six years later. :)

Fortunately, it can heal.  What I did was to put Methyolene Blue into the water and it prevented fungus and bacteria from forming on the skin while it healed.  I increased heat to 82 degrees F.

It took about 3 weeks for it to look like the skin was returning.

I certainly hope that this helps and I think with time, long as he's eating, he should heal okay.

I hope my story gave you some hope, additionally.

Renee
