Fan tail goldfish

Question
I recently purchased two fantail goldfish. One is larger then the other and is constantly bothered by the little one. The large one swims and continually tries to escape the little one while the small one is incessantly attacking her tail end. Is this normal behavior. Should I remove the little one from the tank. They were both purchased at the same time out of the same tank in the store.

Answer
Summer,
It is normal for fish to establish a hierarchy and it is usually the smaller fish that bothers the others. If it continues you might want to take one out. I usually tell people to try to get the fish the same size. Give them a couple of days to settle into the new tank and see how it goes. Just keep an eye on them so that one doesn't get badly hurt by the other.
