Question
Hi I have a about 1200 gallon koi pond in the backyard. I have 5-6 big orange fishes(do not know the type). The pond has a pump and fountain for the aireation and filtering algae. My pond stays way to green all the time and during summer its just worst with large amount of string algae. I was wondering if i use fresh water clams, will it help me to keep the water cleaner? If it dose help then how many clams should i put in?

Answer
Anu,
I have heard that adding muscles will help out the algae but I have never tried them.

I have always used snails in my ponds and they seem to do a great job. The population doesn't get crazy because some of them get eaten my the fish. Fresh water shrimp will also help. I hope the website I sent you helps out.
