lighting for tank

Question
I was just wondering, I have a 2 gallon hexagon tank with 1 beta, and two smaller fish. i was just wondering how long i should keep my light on and what period of time may be considered too long or not long enough? i just didnt know about the effect on temperature and what it might do.

Answer
Hi Aaron;

I leave my lights on all the time if there is no heater in the tank. Bettas are tropical and really need it warm.

Algae may grow quite a bit, but just wipe it off and make your regular weekly water change of 25% right after.
