Question
My fish, Bub, has been in his spherical, volleyball sized tank
for 6 months.  He is a year and 3 months old and lives
alone.  Recently, he has become bloated under his gills and
it keeps inflating.  The scales are streched and I don't want
him to die.  Thanks for your help,
Anne

Answer
Hi Anne;

Poor little fella. He may be constipated and needs a little help. Raise his tank temperature to 82 degrees, slowly. This higher temperature will speed up his metabolism and help his digestion. Feed only green peas for a few days. Feed no other foods until he is feeling better. You can also add a little pinch of epsom salts to his tank. Epsom is a laxative. Along with the peas it will hopefully help him.

Hope he feels better soon.....
