Male or female gouromie

My husband bought two gouramies for me how can I tell if I have two males or two females would like to know the difference.

Answer
It depends on the type of gourami.  Some you can tell by the dorsal fin, long and pointed is male, short and rounded is female.  With Dwarf Flame, Dwarf Powder blue and some others, the females are silver or have little colour.  With the smallest varieties, Sparkling gouramis etc. you have to shine a light behind them and look for the ovaries in the female, or wait to see if they make noise (males croak).  If your your type of gourami is not one of these types, send me a follow up.  If you are not sure what type you have, you can send me a pic, my e-mail is abbeys_mom_ca@yahoo.com
