filter intake accident

Question
Dear Mr. Samms,
I just set up my 20 gallon with zebra danios and a dwarf gourami and over the past month, have experienced 2 accidents where a danio got stuck up against the filter intake.
I have no idea what I can do to possibly avoid/prevent this for the future - I feel as if it is my fault!
Please help!

As you probably know, zebra danios are REALLY fast fish. They aren't just getting stuck up against the filter intake, they are dieing and THEN getting stuck up against the intake.

Did you cycle your tank? Here is a good article on the cycling process:
