tank temperature

I have an oscar and a plecastamus in a 2.5 gallon tank (for now) and the temperature in the tank worries me. It is currently at 81 degrees. What should it be at and how can I safely lower it. I was thinking putting ice outside the tank for a little while.

hI, IT MAY BE A GOOD IDEA TO REMOVE 15% OF THE WATER IN THE TANK AND PUT IN SOME COOLD WATER, AND IF YOU HAVE A HEATER MAKE SURE TO LOWER THE TEMP.IT MAY ALSO BE WISE TO CHEK IF YOUR THERMOMETER IS WORKING OK, IF THINGS STILL DO NOT CHANGE AFTER ADDING 15-20% OF COLD WATER PLEASE LET ME KNOW.THANKS!
