my sick beta fish

hey,
my fish is realy sick. he is loosing his color in his body, he is swollen, his scales are raised, and his bottom lip had a sore on it, but now it has like a scab on it. and he has stopped eating. i can't seem to warm up his water and nothing else i do seems to work. please help me. i don't want him to die. thanx.

Hi Jim;

I sincerely apologize for not getting your question answered sooner. Allexperts system had a server problem. This has been going on for 3 or 4 days and they finally fixed it.....

To get his water warmer he needs a heater. Most are too big and dangerous for betta bowls but there is a small one that I like to use. I found it in the fish department of my local WalMart;

Unfortunately though, when fish start to show these signs they don't usually recover. The "pinecone" look, means that fluid has built up inside from organ failure. It is called dropsy and is a symptom of a serious problem. Here is a list of addresses to web pages to help you know more about it and possible treatments if you want to try something;
