Question
Hello, my name is Elizabeth and I have just purchased two female sunset twinbar platies to go with my other three platies(one of them female) which are sunburst platies. My question is this- could the female twinbar's mate with the male sunset platies even though the female twinbar's are about half the size of the sunbursts'? Also, the twinbar's are not juvenile but just a smaller fish. Is it still okay if the two different types breed?

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,
If they are all platies then they can (and will) mate with each other.

Is it okay?  Well, they are both color types of the same species so they can mate but you just don't know exactly what the kids will look like.
