signs of old age in goldfish

Question
Are there any clear signs of old age in goldfish?  I have a 5.5" (body length) long goldfish that is at least 8 years old.  He seems the same as he always has.  How can I tell when he is reaching the end of his lifespan?

Answer
Most of the time if you loose a goldfish, you'll see signs of a disease before they die. If not. Goldfish can live 20+ years at least. One lived to be 43 in England. They grow rings on them just like a tree that you can actually count to get an age :)

If they dont show disease, when its their time, usually they'll stop eating and just go.
