Question -
Hi Ron,
I just purchased a 3" Firemouth a couple of days ago. He is an established 20 gal. tank with a 1 1/2" Convict. He is hidding all the time and has dug himself a gravel hole behind some driftwood. I know he is still alive, because a notice in the mornings that I have less and less grean algea in the rocks. I am worried that he will starve when all the algea is gone. Is this normal behavior? Thanks

Answer -
Hi Blake,
That is actually perfectly normal.  It may take him a few weeks to feel comfortable in his new surroundings.

Answer
Hi Blake,
I think patience is the key here.  Also be sure that the tank has lots of potential hiding spots so that he feels that if he comes out, he has lots of places to get to in a hurry if need be.
