Betta sickly

Question
Hi, my betta was lethargic, not eating and with some fuzzy things on his head and mouth. He also had a big belly and was constipated.  So, I changed the water, got him some medication and fed him peas. He is doing much better but I noticed his poop was like a fuzzy red ball with a tail. My betta is red. Is that normal?  I removed it from the tank.  How much longer should I feed him the peas and should I return to the flakes or should I get something else?  He's a cute little fellow and I want him to be 100% ok.  Thanks!

 Actually that all sounds very good.  I'm impressed that you got him to eat peas.  That was a good move.  The red poop is fine.  I suggest you try him back on the flakes.
