Question
Hi, I have a 90 gallon bow front tank. It is already cycled and has been up for about a year with cichlids in it. Most of my fish died from power outage. I wanted to try a new type of cichlid and i found the Midas. I have a few questions about them.
1.In my 90 gallon if i get 1 are there other fish that can go in with them.(I know they are very aggresive.)Or do i need to get 2 of them or will 1 be fine in there by themself.
2.Will my pleco be ok with the midas. He is a common pleco about 5-6 inches.
3 I heard that they can break the glass from ramming in to it is this true?(i have pretty think glass) and can they break the thermomiter? thanks for any advise!

Answer
Hi Mallory,
A midas will be perfectly happy by himself.  A pleco will also go well in there.  He can definitely break the thermometer. He should not be able to break the glass of a tank that size.  I have kept hundreds of midas cichlids as part of my research and I have never had one do that.  They can easily break plastic tank dividers however (and even metal screen ones).
