Question
I have a 75 Gal tank with 10 fish.  It has become infested with snails.  How do I fix this?  I tried the rid snail drops but that did not work well, within 4 days they were back.  Help.

Answer
Good evening Chris,

There's a thunderstorm in my area right now that knocked off the power a couple of times already...

So much information is available on the internet about this since it is a common problem, I am just going to link to these sites which will give you insights and advice:

I highly recommend a combination of biological and mechanical removal. Snail eating loaches (Google this for suggestions, there's lots more besides clown loaches) combined with bait traps (perhaps simply a terracotta saucer with a slice of cucumber or other sliced veg, weighed down with a rock or magnetic Chip Clip) should eradicate your pest snails in a few weeks at the most. Be persistent!

Keep in mind, the best way to keep an aquarium snail free is the old adage about an ounce of prevention. Always dip new live plants in potassium permagranate, or a diluted bleach solution - be sure to rinse thoroughly. Read more here:

Never put the shipping water in your tank when you introduce new fish! Always net the fish, and turn the net inside out to introduce the new fish after a period of acclimation.

I hope that helps, best of luck.
