fantail goldfish trouble

Question
I have a fantail goldfish who seems to be having trouble swimming.  when he stops flapping his fins he just floats to the top. He is the only fish in the tank that does that.  Is he sick or about to die? Is there some thing that I am doing wrong?

Answer
Hello Rico-

Try to isolate your fantail to a separate tank, if you can. Fast him for a few days, then start feeding him some defrosted, frozen peas. If you see improvement, you can start feeding him his regular food. In my opinion, pelleted foods are better for fantails, because this breed of fish is notorious for gulping air when eating, which causes swim bladder problems.
