pregnant platy fish

Question
ok well I've Had a platy fish for about 3-4 months and the pet story i got her at said she was pregnant so for a month i put her in a breeding box in the tank well she didn't have any babies but she is getting fatter by the day is that just because she is fat or is she pregnant still?and if she is pregnant still what should i do put her back in the breading box or just put her in another little tank.how long should i put her in the other tank before putting her back in the big tank?

 Unfortunately I can't really tell which it is: she could be fat or she could be pregnant.  Only time will tell.  
Personally, I would put her back in the breeding box.
