Green Puffer fish Food

Question
Hello,
I just bought a little green puffer fish. So far, the only thing Icarus T. Fish will eat are the ghost shrimp. I tried the frozen krill, but he just looks at it. Will he eat meal worms? I have a few small snails in the tank, but he just looks at those, too. How can I get him to eat other food?

Thank you for your help, and sorry if you have answered this before.
Newbie fish gal,
Penny

Answer
Hello Penny,
I have a Green Puffer as well, and I know how finicky they can be. They should have some snails at least a few times a week to keep their teeth filed down, but maybe the snails you have in there are just too large. They need to be teeny! No larger than his eye. I go to my Petsmart store and just take the baby snails off their plants - no cost.
You might also try brine shrimp, cut up pieces of clams, scallops and mussels.
One thing I'd like to note- just in case you didn't already know - they start out freshwater when young and gradually change to brackish. So don't forget to add aquarium salt for now and then switch over to marine salt very slowly. They also prefer a higher pH of around 7.5, so some crushed coral and/or seashells should help.
