Salt water Puffers

Question
A friend wants to give me his salt water Puffer for my fresh water tank because he has been told that it is a threat to the rest of the living creatures in that tank. My tank is over 3 years old and well established and happy.

I do know that I am putting some or maybe all of my fish at risk adding this fish. What I am asking is is it possible to transfer a Puffer who came from a salt water environment all of its life to a fresh water environment and not risk ending its life?

Lynette,                                                               First you can not take him from salt to fresh......Though depending on the type of puff like a figure 8 or a spotted they can go from fresh to salt. Since your tank is established and happy I wouldn't add any type of puff. They can be very aggressive and territorial. Tell your friend sorry , but your he has to find another home for him......Good Luck,Tina
