fish stroke?

Question
We had our heater malfunction and the water got up over 100 before we caught it. We had one already dead and several not acting right when we discovered it. I added cold water to bring the temp down to normal range. We ended losing 5 and have 4 good ones left. There is one that is still alive but acting funny. This is what I want to ask about. It is an angel fish, and keeps swimming around and then falling back to the bottom, sometimes upside down. You look and think it might be dead but its eye moves and you can see it breath just a little bit. We want to give it a chance and not take it out till its completely dead. It keeps trying to hard to get up. One time when it came up to the top we put a little food in for it and I think it ate some. Is is possible that it had some kind of stroke or something like it. Have you ever heard of anything like this? It doesnt look to good for it, but it keeps fighting. Maybe it will snap out of it?

Answer
Hi Erica;

What a shame. I've had heaters freak out too before too. Certainly not fun. The best you can do is to just wait and hope he recovers. Whatever damage that may have occurred could heal, but it's really hard to say. If the other fish pick at it or something you may have to isolate to protect it as it recovers. Just do the best you can. Hoping for the best...
