I think our fish is dying

Question
We recently purchased two black moors.  The one moor is larger (Delboy)and slightly more brown while the other one is slender (Rodney)and dark black.

they are ususally both very active and love to swim to the surface to feed.  Ove rthe past few days Rodney has not eaten and his top fin is constantly down - he remains at the surface and Delboy keeps trying to push him around.

our tank is kept clean and we are very careful with everything - the temp of the water is 62

is there anything that we can do?

Answer
Hello Jo-

Sorry for the wait. The water in the tank may be just a little too cold for moors. If you can, try to get the water closer to 65-70 F. Also, I'd recommend a water change (50-70%) as clamped fins are a sign of high ammonia levels.

If Delboy gets rough, you should separate the two, as the sick fish's eyes may become injured from too much nipping.

Hope this is useful.
