At long last (heavy emphasis on the "long"), the ammonia is at zero, the nitrites are at zero, the nitrates are at 5 ppm, and the pH is at 7.2.  All this just in time for our anticipated trip to LA.  

Thanks so much for all your help the past few months!  I know I've said it before, but this tank would have been a goner without your sage advice.  After we get back from singing in Los Angeles this coming week, I'm headed to the pet store to add a few new fish at a time.
