Convict cichlid with eye problem

Question
Hi, I hope you can help me. I have a 3-4 inch female convict that has recently laid eggs which have since hatched and are growing rapidly. Anyway, I noticed today that her left eye seems to be cloudy. But the weird thing is, its definetly BLUISH and cloudy (the whole entire eye). It doesn't seem to be protruding much but I guess its too early to tell. Could this be cataracts? The water quality is excellent and the fry and male convict are fine so I don't know what the issue could be. She has been a bit rough with the male recently so I guess she could have injured it. I'm really just worried its Mycobacterium Marinum (fish TB). Do you have any idea what this could be and how to treat it if possible? Thank you so much!

Answer
Hi Lay,
Some cichlids get pretty tough when they have their babies, and sometimes after the spawn, fights break out between the male, and female...when this happens, one is going to be hurt.  I think that this is what happened to the female.  Of course, I can't be 100% sure, but convicts are tough little fish!  Seeing has your water is not the problem, I would treat with malafix.  There is no danger for the babies.  Follow the directions on the bottle, and shake the bottle well before using.  This treatment should help your convict, and you should see results rather quickly...if not, we will try something else, but I am confident that this treatment should work.
Hope that this helps you.
