Three new goldfish.

Question
Hi Lynda. It's Danielle. My new fish are all very cheeky baby goldfish. One of them called Dasher spins. I don't know why but when he does spin he goes mad. The youngest fish tries to eat the filter all the time. I am worried the fish might hurt itself trying to eat the filter. I think they like me though. the white spots on Lunar were bigger than the spots they have if they havre ich. I have been going on the internet trying to find out what killed Keiko and Willy.  The orange fish is a male like Dasher but I can't think of a name for him. Dasher looks like he has fin rot but he hasn't, it's just his colour. I called one Dasher because it's christmas soon and he is always dashing around the tank like a mad thing.  I bought a toy for Lunar, Keiko and Willy but I might as well give it to the new goldfish. I always said if anything happened to Willy, Lunar and Keiko I would get more fish. The youngest fish has had New tank syndrome but I cured that and they are all fine now swimming around like crazy. The orange one has a red nose like Rudolph so I think I might have to call it Rudolph the red nosed fish. They are all so cute. Do you think I will be a good owner for the fish. I don't want to lose these fish to or at least not in one go. Thank you.
Danielle.

Answer
Hi Danielle,
I'm so happy for you dear, and the names you have chosen are really cute.  You will be one of the best fish owners because you care for them.  I wish more people were like you.
Make sure your water chemistry is always perfect, and you will have no problems.  Check your PH, ammonia, and nitrates at least once a week to make sure it is okay.  Goldfish should be in a PH of 7.5-8.0  They like alkaline water.  If your water isn't alkaline, you can make it so by adding seashells, or crushed coral.  Bring it up slowly, and it will be just fine.  I just thought I would mention this.
Enjoy your new little friends, and thank you for letting me know, it made my day.
Lynda
