Killi eggs and microworms

Question
Hello, Mr. Coleman,
I just bought some killi eggs online to try my luck hatching them. However I have little experience with this subject(though my knowledge does extend to cichlids, livebearers, tetras, etc.). I would appreciate it if you could give me some information on time frames of hatching them, techniques, and water specifications.

Also, I read that microworms made a great food for fry. How do you care for these, and how do you keep them going?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Spencer,
Unfortunately I have not done that in many years, however, as I recall it is actually pretty simple. The eggs are not overly picky about the environment as long as it is wet.   Hatch time is going to depend entirely on temperature -- warmer water makes them hatch faster.  I would aim for water around 80oF.

First food is going to be very important.  Microworms would be a good choice, though I can't tell you how to raise those -- I suspect you can find that online elsewhere.  In a pinch, frozen baby brine shrimp will probably be okay -- it depends on whether the baby fish are large enough to eat baby brine, and that depends on exactly which species you have.
