Questioni have a tank with different rams in it. One of my fish died with very large eyes which looks like pop eye im concerned for the other fish but i have seen no change in them. The fish that did die was fine the day before with no symptons can you help thanks
AnswerHi Jason,
Pop-eye can be caused by bacteria or as a result of fighting. Rams tend to be fairly boisterous with one another. The fact that he died without any symptoms suggests that it was as a result of a fight. Pop-eye that is caused by a bacteria usually builds up over a period of time, usually you will notice a white film appear over the eye like a cataract.
Keep an eye on them and maybe introduce a few more to spread the squabbling out. If bullying is focused to much on one particular fish then it can begin to get out of hand. Make sure you stay religious with water changes and check the other fish over to make sure there are no signs of eye infections caused by bacteria.
Many Thanks
Tom
