Chichlid tankmates

Question
Hello,

I have had a kissing Gourami for a few years (close to 5 I think) and he has been a pretty bad boy.  He lived in a 50 gal tank and killed everything but my 15 yr old plec.
So I thought I'd try moving him to my 65 gal chchlid tank which houses 2 Jacks & 5 friends (two of which are tetras which is also strange and have lived together over a year)
Anyway I introduced my gourami a few hours ago and all the fish in the tank (except the tetras) crowded him  checking him out so I then fed my fish and all ate even the gourami, I've been keeping an eye out and the gourami seem to like hanging out with the jacks.
I've been looking on the net and cant find any refrences of these fish living together.
My question is basically do you think these species can live together and have you come across anything of the like.
Your comments are appreciated.
Best Regards,
Michelle

Answer
Hi Michelle,
I think it is going to depend on relative sizes. If the kissing gourami is large enough and can hold his own, then things might be okay.  But if the Jack Dempsey's can get the upper hand, the kissing gourami will be disposed of relatively quickly.
