Africans

We just replaced our side filter with a canister type and all of our africans are dying.  Please help.

Hi Charles,
 It isn't the type of filter per se that is the problem, i.e., lots of people keep
African cichlids in tanks with canister filters, so it is likely either a coincidence
or the result of some side-effect of the filter change.  Did you change anything else at the
same time?  Have you noticed that one of your cichlids has suddenly become very colorful,
and very aggressive?
