Question
I have a Gold Severum that is full grown.  Recently he started floating irratically.  I thought that he had swim bladder disease.  So i fed him a couple of peas and he ate them and i thought maybe that would help him self right so he could swim normally.  The next day he was still doing the samething except now he has fin and tail rot and the other fish are pecking at him.  I removed the severum and put him into a hospital tank.  He also developed popeye.  I started treating with maracyn for tail and fin rot and popeye.  That seems to have helped but he's still floating upside down.  What could be the issue here?

Answer
Hi Mandy,
Continue treating him with Maracyn, combined with Maracyn 2.  If there is no change in his situation within three days, you must treat him with "Tetracycline."  Severums must have vegetables in their diet.  Boston lettuce, Spinach, and peas should be given to them often, at lease three times a week.  They also love veggie wafers, or sticks.
I hope he recovers quickly.
