Question
So i have been thinking abouut litterally every type of fish that is freshwater for my 55g, i have though about african cichlids 3 times, oscar like 5 times, angelfish 1-2 times, community tank 3-4 times and a midas cichlid like 2-3 times. Now i have settled ( hopefully ) on a cichlid community.

heres my prefered fish:
Blood parrots ( main fish )
Firemouthes
Convicts
Bala sharks
Pictus catfish
Plecos
silver dollars

This would be awesome if i could do this list of fish:
1 or 4 parrots ( tell me which is better )
2 assorted plecos
3-4 pictus catfish
3-4 Bala sharks
1 Firemouth
1 Ropefish
1 crayfish

I am totally willing to cut the number of pictus or completely forget about the pictus if it i ocver stocked

thanks

Answer
Hello,
Bala Sharks get very big, and need 200 gallon tanks.
Convicts, and firemouth cannot be mixed with the timid parrot fish.  Convicts are true to their name, and are quite aggressive, and territorial.
Silver dollars are a peaceful fish, and must be kept in groups.  Keep in mind that they do get quite big -6-8 inches round.  One pleco is enough for any tank, as they grow very big, and do not forget that you must feed it.  Plecos do not survive on algae alone, and must be fed sinking wafers, and sinking shrimp pellets.  They do not eat spoiled food that falls to the bottom of a tank.  You must feed them, or they starve to death.
Pictus catfish must be in groups of 3-4.  They grow to 5-6 inches.
Ropefish must be in 100 gallon tank.
If you want to keep a crayfish, you will have to keep him alone in another tank.
I'm sorry to disppoint you with your list, but it would be better to re-do your list.  Keep in mind that Parrot fish are very timid, and need peaceful tankmates.

Sorry, but I have to tell you the truth.  A 55 gallon tank, is not a 200 gallon tank.  There was not enough space to house all the fish you mentioned, and to top it off the fish were not compatible.  You should read up on fish before putting them in your tank.
I don't think I could have been more straight forward than this.  I think you understand everything I wrote, the truth is, you just don't accept it!
