electric yellow cichlids

Hi!  I have started a freshwater tank with 2 electric yellow cichlids. Do I need a bottom feeder? if so, what kind can handle a high pH? The local pet store sold me a clown loach, and I just looked it up, and it can not handle a high pH. HELP!

Hi Amy,
 You do not need to have a bottom feeder.  There are catfish called synodontis catfish that come from East Africa that can handle high pH and alkaline water (and you are right: that is not a good environment for a clown loach).
