blood parrot

Hi, I have a blood parrot fish in a 10 gallon tank (really too small, I know) I got in when I was in high school and its still very healthy and doing great. The problem is that its about 6 years old now and I'm afraid to move it into a bigger tank because I'm afraid its too used to its surroundings. Is it possible to move it to a friend's tank that is much larger without putting it into total shock? Whats the best way to do this? Thank you!

Hi Ashley,
 I doubt if it will be in shock because of going to a larger tank.  More importantly, what is in the other tank now?  That might be much more important.
