convict

Ron Hello I have seven Convict Chichlids about 10days old in a 30gallon tank with a 2in Pleco. Do you think they will be all right with him? And how long does it take for them to get a few in? Becasue they are so small you would not belive it! I am feeding them goldfish flakefood that i have broke up is that all right for now? Thank you for all your help Tim

Hi Tim,
  The trouble with plecostomus is that they hunt mostly at night, whem most cichlids, particularly babies, are asleep. This makes the kids vulnerable to the pleco so I would consider separating them.  They will reach an inch or so after about 6 months.

  Crushed flake food is fine for baby convicts. You might consider getting some frozen baby
brine shrimp and giving them some of that.
