QuestionI have a small tank with one betta fish. I feed him twice a day (a little bit each time) and I change his tank once a week. Can I leave the fish without feeding him for 4 days? I once used one of those pellet feeders that is supposed to provide food- I split it in half, but it didn't look like the fish ate any of it. Should I transport the fish to someone else's house? The weather is cool so I am concernced about bring ing the fish outside. Thanks.
AnswerHi Alicia;
It is perfectly fine to leave fish for 4 days without food. Healthy fish can even go a week with very little effect. If your house will be cool while you are gone it may be better to leave him with someone else that has a warm house. Wrap his bowl in a big blankie and just transport him to a friend's house.
They really don't like vacation pellets. They end up just polluting the tank. Yuck!
Have a safe and fun trip!
