Question
I just cleaned my fish tank today for the first time since I got it for Christmas.  It is a 3 gallon tank.  I realize that your only supposed to empty like 3/4 of the water from the tank, but because so much food had gathered on my rocks I emptied the whole fish tank to be able to clean the rocks.  I took the water from the tank and placed it in another tank to hold the fish while I cleaned the actual tank.  When I placed the fish in the holding tank I noticed they were swimming funny.  A couple were upside down.  When placing the fish back into my 3 gallon tank all 4 of my tetras went straight to the bottom of the tank, but my albino frogs are acting normal.  Do you know what the problem is?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Amber,
You should only change 25% of the water in a tank at once.  You also need to feed a lot less food.  Only put in food once a day and only put in food that they eat right away.  Never put in food for them to eat later.  Food should not accumulate on the bottom of the tank at all.
