Cory catfish and weekend feeders

Question
I recently went away for a long weekend and got a weekend feeder that dissolves in my tank. When I came home I found one Cory dyeing and I was missing two young Cory's as well. This is not the first time this has happened. Are weekend feeders toxic to Cory catfish?  All my other fish seem to be doing just fine.

Hi Carrie,
 I never use weekend feeders.  If you are going away for up to about 4 days, just don't feed the fish.  DO NOT put in a chunk of extra food before you leave for them to eat while you are away -- it will rot and spoil the water.  They will be fine, if a little hungry, for that long, and very glad to see you when you return.
