Molly vs Betta?

23 11:17:44

Question
I have a 10-gallon aquarium (which will be doubled after I move to my new place) that has a dark blue + red/white fins male King Betta, 6 little Platies, a black Lyre-tail molly, and a small bristle nose, i think, sucker fish.

The black molly seems to either like the Betta and shows its affection via pestering, or is aggressive to it and bothers it. When i first put the molly into the tank it immediately hung out with the Betta, but a couple of times chased it around and nipped it on the side. Not the fins yet, thankfully, and now it just follows the Betta around quite often, usually to be found in the same place. Is this because they are the same color or something, or what? I'm curious as to why it appears this Molly has bonded with the Betta.

Answer
Hi Kevin

Mollies can be aggressive. However, Bettas usually attack fancy finned fish such as the Lyretail. The Molly's behavior is aggression, not affection. It would be a good idea to separate them before one or the other is seriously injured or killed.

Hope this helps, good luck!
