Question
I recently discovered I have a breedng pair. This is the second time eggs have been laid. No survival fry first time and this time, all the egges laid [on a flat rock on my tank] is covered by what seems to be a fungus-like cloud. Is this normal? Or is this a fungus feeding on the eggs?

Answer
Hi Rahn,
The fungus attacks dead eggs. Most likely the eggs were not fertilized correctly.  This could occur because the male did not go his job; this often happens with young pairs.  Or, it could be that you have two females.  If two female oscars find themselves in a tank with no male, they will often form a "pair" and lay eggs.  Because the eggs are not fertilized, they do not hatch and soon die.
