Question
around a year ago we bought 4 red platys and there must of been a female in the group that we didn't realize was there at that time. now they have nearly completely taken over the our applauds gal tank!! is there a way to lesson their breeding? Or can we give some to a pet shop or something?? I've asked around at work and nobody wants any....we don't want Or be breeders. what should we do??    too many with too many more on the way!!

Answer
I'm very sorry I haven't answered yet, I didn't get an email saying I have a question waiting like I normally do.
Platies will breed. That's pretty much what they do. You can separate the males and females, but the females can have fry every month for up to 8 months after reproduction, as they can store sperm.
People go about this in different ways, most pet stores will take the extras, or most People with large, piscivorous fish will gladly take them as well.

If you simply want to avoid this all, I suggest returning the females, so you have just males, or get a different species of fish.
