Compatability of fish and shrimp

Question
Hello Tina,
I have nematodes, planarian, snails, and water fleas that I want to rid off the aquarium.
Well, I've got some information that Kuhli loaches can solve this problem but there seems to be a lack of them in the aquarium trade currently. So, I'm here to ask what other fish can help me solve this problem. The only thing is my tank would be a shrimp tank(red cherry shrimp and more)and I can't clean the gravel due to plants. I'm fine with a little of the baby shrimp being eaten up but not the adults.
Another thing, I read somewhere that dicrossus filamentosus can live with shrimp due to their small mouths. Is this true? Because I might want to have them in my tank in the future too. I'm thinking that maybe I should let the shrimp breed to quite a massive amount before adding the dicrossus in. That way, the breeding rate might be faster than the consumption rate.

Thanks!

Answer
Arron,  Whew, you have quite the problem. Lets take this one at a time. You have parasite's and parasitic snails. You might want to get a second opinion. I hate doing this or telling anyone to but, in my professional opinion your tank needs to be broke down. I am so sorry. You are going to have it much easier to start this tank again and make sure you disinfect your plants correctly . Replant them in sterile potting  mix. This will make sure you do not get the worms, snails, and such again. This is the biggest trick to keeping planted aquariums is disinfecting your plants. I am going to send you some info on this. Set up something small and take your khuli's, shrimp and put them in an isolation tank. Disinfect your plants and put them into a container with some water. Wash everything with bleach (1/3 bleach to water) and if you need an abrasive use salt. Rinse very well let it sit over night and let whatever chlorine that is left evaporate. You can bleach your gravel too. Since you need so little for a planted tank I would just replace it add your fluorite and replant. Yes you can siphon you tank. Since you have no real swimmer's in there you don't need to. You would more if you had wastes and extra food which will start growing white mold in the plants which is harmless but looks bad. Don't forget to add your plant supplements to your water as necessary. I am so sorry it took me abit to get back to you on this but fixing your tank without a breakdown is going to be more costly and not as efficient and take much longer than its worth. If you have any other question's please ask, Tina

The biggest problem and I am sorry I didn't explain it more thoroughly is that we have have many different invertebrates' and plant life and the chemicals you are going to have to use are harsh and it will be a couple different kinds. The ones to get rid of snails will kill everything. It would be a long drawn put process and would be unsuccessful or damaging at best. Good Luck, Tina
