Depressed Budgie

Question
Hello, a friend of mine found a budgie in the street and brought her to me, since I have a single tamed male as a pet. The newcomer is weak and sleepy, though she ate desperately when I offered her food for the first time. She remains in the bottom of the cage, sleeping inside the food bowl eating ocassionally, and doesn't do much else. I checked her out for injuries, her feathers are bright and her feet and beak seem healthy. Is she probably sick, or maybe it's just wearyness and hunger from her time in the street?

Answer
Hi Sofia,

I would not put her in the same cage as your budgie as she could have a number of diseases caught from wild birds..So keep her away from your birds for at least two weeks, she could be sick or she could just be very young and not yet perching, the best thing to do is take her into the vet especially as she could be someone's very missed pet,you should probably put up some flyers advertising that you have found her and also do a door knock.
