Budgie Breeding Behaviors?

23 9:50:16

Question
Hey Leah! I want to tell you about some of the behaviors my budgies are showing. 1. The female preens herself and gets preened by the male. 2. The male eats food and feeds the female. 3. The male bobs his head up and down and hops from perch to perch and the female stares at him. What are they doing? Does this mean they are starting to take interest in the nest box?

Answer
These are all signs that they are getting ready to breed.  They probably are well aware of the nest box by now, and will likely mate soon.

The male is trying to impress the female; bobbing his head is his way of telling her he's interested.  Its pretty normal for the female to ignore or even attack him at first, but the will probably accept him once she's ready.  He will continue to feed both her and himself while she's taking care of the nest.
