Question
 Hello Maggie!

I have four budgies.Yesterday the one was sleeping and wasn't so active!I put it immediately to another cage. I think that it has respiratory problems because it can't breathe very well and it does a weird sound. it tries to eat but not much.I have bought  capsules that go into the water that is for respiratory problems and stomach problems but it doesn't drink water!I try bymyself to give to it water with the capsule but it is very difficult! Please tell my what else can I do!Do u think it is too serious now? Please reply to me as soon as possible!

Answer
You need to get your bird to an avian vet ASAP! Over the counter medications are no good, because without the advice of a trained vet (and possibly some tests) it is impossible for bird owner to determine the exact health issue themselves. Plus- over the counter medicatons are typically just preventative antibiotics that will often times do no good anyways! (because different antibiotics are needed for different cases, and some illnesses aren't treatable with antibiotics).

You can find an avian vet in your area at either of the two websites:

www.aav.org

or

http://www.birdsnways.com/articles/abvpvets.htm

or (this website is vets in general... not necessarily avian vets... so call around to find out who in your area has bird experience):

GOOD LUCK! Let me know how the little guy does (and what the vet says).
