4 week old keet injury

Question
iam getting a 4 week old parakeet, that i will be handfeeding,the person who has the baby called me to say the baby chipped his beak on the cage,
how will this effect the baby for life,does the beak grow back?iam not sure how bad he chipped his beak.as of yet, i will be going this noon to see him, and probably bring him home with me.
will he be a special need baby? should i feed him
any differently because of this,?ty for any help u can offer, jean

If the chip is not too bad, it may grow back without too much problem.  As with any bird that you are going to hand feed, you do need to be careful that you do not choke the bird.  Do make sure that your new friend gets the vitamins that it needs and it should be fine.  Do keep an eye on your friend, and if it shows any signs of discomfert or trouble aeting or drinking, take him/her to the vet.
