new parakeet.

Question
I got my parakeet on the 11 of march and he will not stay on my finger or come out of his cage, i am scared to towel it, he seems to be nervour around me and is molting (because of the season?) so what should i do he has no definate color on his cere so he must be young, I got him from petsmart so what am i doing wrong and what should i do!?!?!?!?!?!!!????!!!

Hello Bradley and thank you for your post.
To start with, you need to leave the bird alone for a few days.  (S)he needs time to adjust to his/her new surroundings.
Birds do molt a lot, so don't worry about toweling him/her, but like I just said, give the bird time to adjust to it's new environment.  Moving around is very stressful on a bird, if you try to rush it's taming/training right away you could actually cause the bird to have a heart attack.

In the mean time, go to www.birdtricks.com and read through some of the techniques that they have there.  You'll find it very helpful.
