Lovebirds and cockatiels

Question
Hi!
My sister and I recently purchased two lovebirds that we wanted as pets. We were told they were tame and hand-friendly. Unfortunately, we try taking them out of their cage and they are completely terrified. Once we get them out, they bite and go absolutely nuts. My sister is now terrified of them and we're not sure we want to keep them. We owned a cockatiel about 5 years ago and he was very tame and cuddly. This is what we wanted but since we wanted two, we thought lovebirds would make great pets. Unfortunately, we're having second thoughts and we're thinking about getting cockatiels. Do they make better pets than lovebirds?  Would it be better to get two or just one? Or..any suggestions on how to tame the lovebirds we have?
Thank you so much!

Answer
Hello, i reccomend one or two Just weaned Handfed not just handled babies from a good breeder not a petshop..you can find a breeder via internet ads or locle papers. I persoanly have three handfed lovebirds one I've had for over a year since he was 9 weeks old he is wonderful and I could never ask for a better pet bird, the other two are handfed but not half as nice and wont come to you and perfer to stick to themself but do not bite...all three birds live together  yet my orginal lovebird still wants to come out and play on my shoulders. I say lovebirds are better pets then cockatiels because persoanly I think they are much more intelligent then cockatiels from my experianmce and dont give that awful screech whenever you leave the room! Taming the two birds you have may work it may not and they would never be as tame as newly weaned handfed babies, also if you opt for two handfed babies go for two males two females will fight as they get older and can turn nasty after breeding after and the male/female mix will get you lots of eggs and cranky birds you cant touch either.
